most of stan brakhage's works are silent films. his works are mostly silent films but are also called to be visual music. to find the relationship between images and sounds in his work, a performance will be held by two groups led by akihiro kubota, a sound artist and professor of information design department at the tama university of art and christophe chorle, an assistant professor of image department at the musashino university of art.

brakhage made a lot of hand painted films that have images painted or scratched directly on to the film. this workshop will let you experience film making in the style and method of brakhage. capacity: there is only 10 place (if there are a large number of applicants, it will be decided by lottery) please apply by postcard, fax or e-mail with your name, address, phone number and address to "brakhage eyes workshop" by 21st feb. (sat). about \1,000 is needed for materials.

there is a showing of a work of tribute to brakhage by japanese film makers. "response dance film" and toshio matsumoto, the pioneering image artist of experimental movies such as "a funeral procession of roses" and "dogra magra" is also invited to give a talk.
