videos with subtitles

sendai mediatheque has videos with subtitles for the visually-impaired in its multimedia library on the 2nd floor. you can watch these subtitled videos in the library. the videos may also be borrowed directly from the library or we can mail them to you.
these services are available free of charge.

those eligible for these services

  • residents in the city of Sendai and the Sendai urban areas of 13 cities, towns and village, and those commuting to work and schools from the suburbs, who are hard of hearing and have a certificate for the physically disabled, and their guardians

    Shiogama City, Natori City, Tagajo City, Iwanuma City, Watari-cho, Yamamoto-cho, Matsushima-machi, Shichigahama-machi, Rifu-cho, Taiwa-cho, Ohsato-cho, Tomiya-machi, Ohhira-mura
  • groups, schools and facilities for auditorily-impaired persons
  • persons recognized by the director of the mediatheque as appropriate

before using the services it is necessary to register as a user.

viewing videos in the library

bring your user card and apply to the multimedia counter on the 2nd floor. choose a video your are interested in from the catalogs. personal computers for video search are also available. please feel free to ask for help if you have difficulty using appliances for the search. return the video when you have finished viewing.

borrowing videos from the library

when wishing to borrow videos from the library, bring the user card and apply to the multimedia counter on the 2nd floor.
you can borrow up to two videos at a time.
the loan period is 17 days. please return the videos to the multimedia counter within this period. you can also return them by mail (mediatheque will pay the postal charges).
