the worldwide pinhole photography day in sendai
a handcraft pinhole camera workshop, together with shooting trials under the guidance of katsuo kuroda, professional photographer, were held on the 2nd day of smt open café "virid tea room," which happened to be worldwide pinhole photography day.
the weather was great and the participants went outside to jozenji-dori, using the cameras they just made to shoot photos against a background of fresh green zelkova trees. the required exposure time was about 15 to 20 seconds. cars running, people walking by, branches swinging in the wind, clouds moving in the sky, etc, resulted in leaving overlapping rays of light, some of them lost, from the time that a single photograph had been shot in. this brought a number of amazing photographs that can never be taken using digital cameras. works by the participants are going to be uploaded to the website managed by the worldwide pinhole photography day organization.
