jozenji street is crowded with people from festivals such as the jazz festival, the starlight of pageant, and etc. it holds various events in cooperation with cultural activities on jozenji street. during the golden week holiday (from apr. 29 through may 5) tie-in events with sendai art city project will be held.
1) kosuge 1- 16 "gigantic paper sumo match sendai basho (tournament)"
real-size paper sumo wrestlers and kokugikan will be exhibited. there is a workshop making real-size paper sumo wrestlers around the same time.

conditions of participation:
joining workshop for making paper sumo wrestler. if you would like to make labarum and kasha awash, you need join the workshops two times (you may choose the day from the schedule above).
admission: 1000 yen (actual cost for making paper sumo wrestler) for one group (two or more members).
pre-registration is required.
2) symposium "exploring possibilities of urban development by festival and events"
commemorating "totteoki no ongakusai(treasured music festival)" receiving an award at the 3rd japan event competition. we will present a symposium with key persons of each festival in sendai and past prize- winners of the japan event competition.
