sendai mediatheque (smt) looks for the art works for holding “sendai art annual 2003" to expand the range of creative activities, and propose various pleasurable ways regarding art and pictures. the theme is “my hide out place". the entries are exhibited at the gallery and are awarded prizes after a jury process.

my hide out place

the hide out is the place, where we spend time hiding from others. smt thinks that we face and re-identify “ourselves" there, this process has been lost through our busy daily routine. however, the words “hide out place" have become fashionable nowadays, the real obscure hideout might not exist anymore.

even though, we strongly seek the place to hide as much as the place to encounter, as we know “web site for encountering" is popular now. smt guesses it is the sign that we want to have a connection to ourselves as well as to others, at the deep place in our mind.

sendai art annual 2003 decided “my hide out place" is its theme as the connecting device to the artists themselves. smt accepts every genre. express your hide out as the sacred place for you by various techniques. smt hopes a new connection network will be created through this exhibition.
